Ramazan Serif Mubarek Olsun!

The title above is not Turkish only but Bosnian also :) Yes, they are saying like that to celebrate each other's Ramazan, like we do in Turkish. This is my fourth Ramazan that I have been out of Turkey and especially Istanbul. I missed to be in Istanbul during Ramazan. It is so special (at least for me). How is Ramazan going on here? First of all, iftar is earlier than Turkish cities and of course Swedish ones :) Second, there are Ramazan programmes on TV (they are called Ramazanksi Program :) which are so so similar to our ones; there is a hostess and her guests in a kitchen. Someone is cooking, which makes you more hungry to watch, and the rest is talking about some issues that I do not understand. Third, 'teravih' times in mosques are nice. Fourth, 'hurma' is soo cheap especially when I compare with Swedish ones. I remembered the last Ramazan in Sweden when I could buy only 2, one for me for me and one for my husband. Fifth, thanks to the teachers who are here, we are gathering often to have iftar together and Turkish tea times after that. (My Swedish guy became addicted to 'semaver' Turkish back tea which I am not so fan of it). Last but not the least, it is not so warm, hence, it is not so hard to fast. But maybe it is because that I do not go out so often. I am just sitting at home and reading, reading...

'Velhasıl-ı kelam', the first Ramazan in Sarajevo is going quite nice for us. Hope that God thinks the same about us :)

Bir Düş, Bir Hikaye, Gerçek Bir Anı

Hayat, değer verdiğiniz, yanınızda olmasını istediğiniz insanları yaşamınıza buyur etmekte yavaş davranma lüksünü kaldıramayacak kadar kısa aslında.

Bir varmış (sınız), bir yokmuş (sunuz)...

"Söz vermiştin bana, söz vermiştin yanı başımda yaşlanmaya..."

Nasıl olduğunu bilmek isterdim,
Evet, tüm sarsıcılığına rağmen bilmek isterdim.
...

Şu kısacık vakitte hayatına sığmış olmak teskin ediverdi bir an seni,
Gülümsedin.

Ah minel mevt!

"Bir zaman bir yerde buluşuruz (yine), bir gün bir yerde kavuşuruz (yine),
Başka yolu yok bunun!" değil mi?

Pause

From the weeping of the people,

My eyes are filled with suffering
See how in their seeking You,
What the state of the people has become!

:(((

Bazen uzakta olmaktan nefret ediyorum. Allah gani gani Rahmet eylesin!

The Agenda

Nowadays, one of the most dominant current issues in Bosnia is the decision of EU that the "Citizens of Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro should be allowed to travel to most EU nations without visas, the European Commission has proposed." (Visit this link for the whole news on BBC). The thing is, while these 3 countries will be allowed to visit EU countries, even some war criminals perhaps like Mladic, Bosnia, Albania and Kosovo are not listed among them since they could not manage to finish the necessary process. It can sound fair however these things should be taken into account; Bosnia has a very complex decision making system including 3 different entities where Serbia generally would like harder the things. On the other hand, even though Serbia somehow finished the necessary process, is it enough to accept it without checking how decisive they are about paying the results of the war. Finally, the issue contains a structural unfairness in which Serbian and Croatian people of Bosnia have 2 citizenship (1 from Bsnia and 1 from their motherlands). It means that this situation basically affects only Bosniaks at the end who have only 1 citizenship. I have not so much idea about Kosovo and Albania, hence, I have not so much to write about them yet.
